Supported by the Downie Wenjack Fund, the CIBC Legacy Space is a space for conversation around Canada's true history and ensuring Indigenous perspectives are celebrated within CIBC. The Indigenous Design Studio at Brook McIlroy designed the Legacy Room with references to the form of traditional Anishinaabe (Ojibway) Midewiwin Lodges, Huron-Wendat and Haudenosaunee longhouses, and the Niswi-mishkodewinan (Council of Three Fires - Ojibwa, Odawa and Potawatomi nations) with the three circular light features in the vaulted ceiling. Our role in this project involved creating a custom design software that automated the design ideas present in the modelling process. This allowed for many iterations to be explored, refining details, aligning the design to building code and quickly generating accurate fabrication models.
